"Gift Baskets for Peace: Rose"

48x36 oil on canvas

The "Gift Baskets of Peace" series contains 2 large paintings and 1 study with both series paintings measuring 48"x36" in size and painted in a surrealistic style. This painting series is based on a study that explores the diverse meaning of peace across cultures. Each of the baskets in this series represents symbols for what peace means to individual people. 🕊

My aim in creating this series is to bring awareness, showcase empathy, to help stop hateful forms and misrepresentation in response to the acts of hate happening in our communities.

Gift Baskets were chosen as the subject in honor of the tradition of giving out of kindness. Growing up in my home, you gave or received gift baskets on several occasions. In making this series I thought it would be wonderful to be able to give a gift basket to the world, one full of items which bring everyone peace.

This painting series creates compilation as the viewer must confront a partly spiritual concept of what peace really means, how it would be as a physical manifestation, and how each person defines it in their own way. for more about this painting you can either visit my linktree in my bio or see it on exhibition till Oct. 8th at 3835 Main St, Vancouver, BC V5V 3P1
